2026 is the Year of the Horse, according to Chinese zodiac.
I am not sure how it happened but I found myself reading a 1628 Scottish rhyme.
Its first line was beautiful.
If wishes were horses …
I didn’t like the line thereafter though.
The entire sentiment of that piece bothered me.
No matter how “realistic” it might sound.
Let AI do its soul-less work
Let us humans do our own human work.
If wishes were horses
I might just cry a tear
Because the speed they fly
Outweighs and defies my walking pace.
No more will I beg for rides,
My bigger Self is here.
It’s time to step out more, sweet beloved.
Hello, my house of heavenly delight.
I see you close, further up, in me and around.
Oh yes, I will embrace the good You desire for me.
Oh yes, I will gladly soak You up once more.
My horse calls me forth.
What will your unique piece of work look like?
I wish you simple daily joy.
My inspirations for this piece came from contributions from several extraordinary humans – Toni Morrison’s “Beloved”, Jungian professor Dennis Slattery, TO, MPO and the 1628 rhyme, “If Wishes Were Horses”.
