Move at Your Own Pace

In the world of fitness and rehab, we all know any growth and recovery predicates on moving forward.

In other words, any movement is good.

But the bias is often speed is prized more.

We think fast is better.

And so we pick up the pace, as a culture, as a society and so the modern world.

But wait, didn't the tortoise win the race?

It  sure did.

Tenacity, grit, stick-to-it-ness.

That was all our takeaway lesson, wasn’t it?

But as I watch the turtle move across my trail path (see video above), I am struck by one more insight:

Our pace is the result of who we are and the stuff we carry upon us and in us.

In other words, go gentle at your own pace.

Your Pace Is Really Just Right

Marie-Louise von Franz (1915 -1998) was a Swiss scholar who collaborated closely for Carl Jung.

There is no quibble about it.

Life is hard, in fact really hard at times.

But if we can be at peace with our pace, and go about getting to where we are supposed to be, I think that’s a big win.

I hope this blog entry finds you well and prospering in your soul and health.
